Bill has virtually seen it all in his fifty years with our firm. His solid experience extends to almost every aspect of IP law, especially licensing, validity and infringement studies and opinions, design around guidance, enforcement, litigation, and franchising. He has managed international patent and trademark portfolios for several clients, and he has been involved in over a hundred lawsuits.
Bill received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the General Motors Institute (now Kettering University) in 1964 and received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Michigan Law School in 1967. He has been an adjunct professor in patent law at the University of Detroit Law School for more than 20 years. He has also coauthored seven editions of the textbook Cases and Materials on Patent Law: Including Trade Secrets, Copyrights, Trademarks, most recently in 2017.
