Yao Yao

Biography

Yao’s practice focuses on U.S. patent and trademark filing, prosecution, strategic portfolio management, and global IP enforcement, as well as drafting and analyzing opinions on patentability, infringement, and freedom to operate. She advises corporate clients, tech startups, and academic institutions on building and optimizing robust, high-value IP portfolios worldwide.

Leveraging her dual qualification as both a U.S. attorney and a licensed Chinese Patent Attorney with nearly a decade of practice in China, Yao brings deep expertise to complex, cross-border IP matters involving the U.S. and China. She regularly handles U.S. patent prosecution across chemical, mechanical, and emerging tech sectors, while also coordinating global prosecution and enforcement strategies with international counsel.

Yao holds a degree in Chemical Engineering as well as law degrees from Fordham Law School and Shanghai University. Fluent in English, Mandarin, and Shanghainese, she combines her unique cross-jurisdictional background and technical insight to deliver practical, cost-effective, and business-focused IP solutions for clients protecting innovations on a global scale.
