Randy has 25 years of experience as an intellectual property attorney in all aspects of intellectual property including: patent prosecution; due diligence investigations; freedom to operate and design around opinions; intellectual property licensing; and trademark matters.
Randy’s experience includes obtaining pharmaceutical and chemical patents for startups and manufacturers, including patents related to: traumatic brain injury; obesity; cancer treatment; anti-inflammation; arthritis; allergic conditions; microbiology and genetics; cell culture systems; diagnostic assay systems; and the creation of and use of nanoparticles in diagnostic analysis and assay systems. He also has expertise in the areas of polymer chemistry, rubbers, elastomers, plastics, nylons and graft polymers, sealants and coatings, lubricants, adhesives, polyvinyl chloride formulations, graphite formulations and uses, ceramics and ceramic coatings, and foams of all sorts.
Randy has prosecuted medical device and methods of use patents in the areas of: surgical instruments; diagnostic devices and assays; insulin pump designs and pump syringes for the same; prosthetic joints and limbs; and near field communication and RFID based devices to monitor a variety of physiological parameters, to provide “lab on a chip” assays, to monitor product storage conditions over time, to provide MEMS to monitor medical devices and structural building parameters, and skin patches to record exposure to a variety of environmental elements.
He has extensive experience in a variety of automotive related technologies and glass formulations. Randy also has a great depth of knowledge related to commercial food manufacturing methods, development of new foods, packaging of food items and the machinery to carry out these processes. Randy’s patent experience also extends to agricultural crop technology and crop treatments including: fertilizer formulations; growth promotor treatments; pest management treatments; and microbial treatments to enhance nutrient utilization and growth.
