Alaina earned her Bachelor of Science in Cell and Molecular Biology with a minor in Chemistry from Grand Valley State University. During her time at Grand Valley, she worked as an undergraduate research assistant and conducted research regarding the pathogenicity of Candida albicans. Before joining the firm, she completed an internship at Karmanos Cancer Institute where she studied TMPRSS13, a transmembrane protease, and its relation to breast cancer.
