In January, Steve Walmsley spoke to several hundred middle school students, parents, and educators about the benefits of inventing and participating in the Young Inventors Project coordinated by the Livonia Chamber of Commerce, Alpha USA, and Schoolcraft College, in conjunction with the Livonia, Clarenceville, Wayne-Westland, and Garden City schools. Now in its fifth year, over 800 students entered their inventions in the Project, and the top 35 entrants were selected to present their inventions at a recognition banquet where the top three entries received awards and gifts. A product of the Livonia Public Schools, Steve encouraged the students to continue inventing and participating in the program and others like it, for the experience itself and for drawing on the experience when applying for colleges and jobs down the road.
